Abstract
Green procurement potentially counteracts negative environmental effects of industrialisation. This multiple case study presents three conditions for decarbonisation
legislation to trigger green procurement and to reduce carbon emission. Firstly, customers unambiguously demand reduction of carbon emissions. Secondly, procurement contributes to this decarbonisation and has adequate capacity to execute the extended workload. Lastly, procurers’ daily decisions are guided by procurement decarbonisation targets and KPI’s, aiming to balance costs with decarbonisation. Despite previous researches, other variables did not contributed to implement green procurement. Policymakers can contribute by setting stringent reduction targets and enabling firms to
