Danny Jonker

As a research manager at the Centre of Expertise AI for Society, Danny Jonker drives applied research and connects it with education and the professional field. With a background in logistics and business administration, he bridges the gap between technology and society. His focus is on deploying (generative) AI as a tool to address societal challenges in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, public services, and education itself. Danny supports researchers, teachers, and professionals in implementing technology thoughtfully, always with the user as the starting point.

Danny believes that AI only becomes truly valuable when it aligns with the needs of people and organizations. Therefore, he works on projects that link technological innovation to skills development, collaboration, and practical applicability. From the CoE, he brings parties together, creates space for experimentation, and ensures that knowledge is applied where it has the greatest impact.

Beyond his work, Danny is genuinely enthusiastic about everything related to AI—admittedly, a bit of a nerd. He uses AI in his daily life, from creative tools to practical automation. At the same time, he feels a sense of responsibility: he sees how rapidly the field is evolving and is aware of the risks and ethical questions involved. Precisely for this reason, he wants to be at the forefront of these developments, contributing to a future in which AI supports people rather than replaces them.
